Not so long ago, I blogged about the potential for an actors strike, saying that any decision would have to wait unitl the aftermath of SAG board elections. Well, it seems that the wait is over. Yesterday, the Screen Actors Guild’s negotiating committee issued a recommendation that its National Board call for a strike authorization vote from the 120,000 members. The union cannot walk the picket line until a majority of its members say it is okay. The National Board is set to meet Oct. 18. An actors strike so soon after the writer’s strike is a risky venture that could devastate the economy in and around Los Angeles. This blogger is certainly hoping that all can be resolved because a lot of shows suffered when the writer’s walked out, it will be worse if the actors go. (more…)
