The nominations for what some consider a good barometer for the Oscars, the Golden Globes, came out today. Some very familiar names topped the list. Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet both got double acting nominations. Heath Ledger made the supporting actor in a drama category, adding to the buzz he has already garnered for his posthumous role as the Joker in The Dark Knight. Other big names on the list are Angelina Jolie (The Changeling), Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married), Sean Penn (Milk), Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler), Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr (Tropic Thunder). On the TV side of the equation Mad Men continues its winning streak with a nomination for best drama along with Dexter, House, In Treatment and True Blood. Pop star Ashlee Simpson and her rocker hubby Pete Wentz had their baby Thursday night. Bronx Mowgli Simpson-Wentz weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces and measured 20 1/2 inches long. Mom and baby were said to be doing well. Many are now speculating as to why on earth they gave the poor boy the name Bronx Mowgli.

Fear not Pushing Daisies fans, the show is still alive and well. ABC has not yet informed producers whether the series will end after its initial 13-episode order for the current season. In fact, show runner Bryan Fuller confirms that he has not received any word yet on the show’s fate. The current rumor being spread is that Daisies producers were told by ABC to treat episode 13 (which begins filming Monday) as a series finale, which some fans have interpreted as definitive news that the network decided to cancel the series. Not so say reliable sources. Producers have not yet been told whether they will receive a pickup for the remaining nine episodes of the current second season, and that is still a possibility. Presley Has Twins V Gets Reboot Random Tidbits

Lisa Marie Presley and her husband, Michael Lockwood, welcomed twin girls into their lives on Tuesday. No names for the twins who weighed in at 5 pounds 15 ounces and 5 pounds 2 ounces. Presely, daughter of the King of Rock and Roll Elvis and Prisilla Presley, has two older children; Riley, 19 and Benjamin, 15. “She wanted it really to be kept a secret for a long time,” the singer’s mother, Priscilla Presley, told Entertainment Tonight, which broke the news. “And I think women should, because they should be able to announce what they’re having and when it’s time to make the announcement.” Mom and babies are resting comfortably.
