Vampires have always held a special sway over audiences ever since Bela Legosi brought Stoker’s Dracula to life. Following in the successful footsteps of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Blood Ties and the Twilight series comes True Blood. HBO brings life to the successful book series by Charlaine Harris with the help of American Beauty and Six Feet Under writer, Alan Ball. The series stars Oscar winner Anna Paquin of X-men fame. The twist? Thanks to the Japanese invention of the synthetic TruBlood, vampires don’t need to drink from humans anymore. Tune in tonight at 9pm to see if this new series has bite.
Daniel Radcliffe, best known to the world as the young wizard Harry Potter, took to the Broadway state this weekend. He made his New York debut in Equus. Radcliffe has already performed this role in London, to rave reviews. As the subject line says, he appears naked in quite a few scenes to the delight of fans. A quick Google search will net the interested pictures from the London production. If you have money to spare, Equus is playing at the Broadhurst Theater.
Finally, Beyonce showed off her wedding ring for the first time this weekend at Fashion Rocks. The singer, who secretly wed rapper Jay-Z in April, showed off her stunning diamond on the red carpet. The stone is valued at more than five million dollars. It is a flawless eighteen carats, square cut and set in platinum. Though the couple are still being very hush-hush about their marriage, Beyonce managed to flash her stunning stone not only on the red carpet but on the stage. My advice, flaunt it honey! If I had that much money on my finger, I wouldn’t be shy to show it.
