Runway Trouble Simpsons 20 More Casting News

Another edition of What’s Hot, fresh off the press. Possible casting spoilers for Boston Legal and Heroes in this edition.

Project Runway may not be moving to the Lifetime channel just yet. A New York court agreed to temporarily block the Emmy-nominated reality series from airing on Lifetime, which inked a five-year deal with the show’s producer, The Weinstein Co., earlier this year. Bravo’s parent company, NBCU claimed it’s rights were violated by the deal. “The overwhelming evidence demonstrated that The Weinstein Company violated NBC Universal’s right of first refusal to future cycles of Project Runway.” Lifetime argued the agreement was valid and vowed to continue to fight. No word on whether or not this battle will affect the next season of the reality show.

Sunday night marks a milestone for The Simpsons. It will be the start of its 20th season, tying it with Gunsmoke for the longest running comedy or drama series. Executive producer Al Jean believes that the family’s reliability is what has lead to the show’s success. “There are families everywhere you go, and there are families like the Simpsons. I’ve been in places like Italy, and they say, oh, yeah, there’s a guy in the kitchen—he’s just like Homer.” And with the voice actors recently inking a new four year contract, I think it is safe to say that the Simpsons will not be going anywhere anytime soon.

Finally, casting news. Amid runors that the next volume of Heroes will be titled “Fugitives” producers may be on the lookout for an actor to play an FBI agent similiar to Tommy Lee Jones’ character in “The Fugitive”. This character is expected to show up in the 14th episode. And on Boston Legal, the final season is shaping up to be great. Not only is Julie Bowen returning, but the 10th episode will have Valerie Burtonelli as a guest star. No word on who her character is going to be.
