To all our readers in the Gulf Coast region, I hope you are safe and dry! And now onwards with another edition of What’s Hot.
Shortly after rumors were bandied about that Jennifer Lopez would be the surprise guest judge on the finale of this seasons “Project Runway” comes the news that she’s not. The movie star, singer and fashion trend setter had to pull out due to a foot injury “Runway” host Heidi Klum announced. Lopez had been training to compete in the 2008 Nautica Malibu Triathlon this weekend, a benefit for Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. In her place “Runway” producers announced that fashion mentor Tim Gunn will replace her. He promised that despite being close with the contestants he will be “unbiased” as a judge.
Proving how close they are off screen, the top ten contestants from the fourth season of FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance all got matching tatoos. What did they decide to ink themselves with? The phrase “IV Real” which became a kind of motto for them during the season. What are some of the top ten up too, besides gearing up for their tour? Will Wingfield is ready to direct with scripts ready and ideas gestating. Top four finalist Courtney Galiano confides that she might be appearing in a new series, but won’t give any details. And winner Joshua Allen is ready to try his hand at acting as well as maybe a session or two in the recording studio.
Finally, Saturday Night Live is gearing up for its season premiere tonight with Olympic golden boy Michael Phelps as host with a special appearance by Democratic nominee Barack Obama. Phelps admits to being more nervous to host than he was to swim in Beijing. But the biggest news swirling around set is whether or not former members Tina Fey and Maya Rudolph will make appearances to play Gov. Sarah Palin and Michelle Obama respectively. This being an election year, it gives the sketch show a chance to poke fun at politicians and politics in general. Stay tuned to see if this happens.
