DWTS News More Janet Shows Axed James Earl Jones Honored

What’s Hot is here again on a slow Sunday afternoon. No casting/storyline spoilers in today’s edition.

A couple of newsworthy notes from Dancing with the Stars. Current contestant, Olympic gold medal winner Misty May-Treanor, suffered an injury on Friday that required immediate attention. Sources say it was her Achilles tendon. The official word from producers is: “Despite previous reports, she did not break her ankle. She is resting comfortably at home. Doctors will reevaluate her condition on Monday and determine the outcome of her participation on the show.” Previous winner Helio Castroneves plead not guilty to charges of tax evasion. He appeared in court wearing handcuff and leg chains and was released on $10 million bail. His release stipulates that he will be able to travel for work, but that is restricted to the US only. This means it is likely he will miss a race in Australia later this month.

Recently I blogged about Janet Jackson cancelling shows due to illness. Well it turns out that the speculation of more following was correct. She has cancelled three more shows after a doctor in Greensboro, North Carolina stated that it was “evident” she was not fully recovered. She first fell ill during a soundcheck in Montreal. Still no statement as to what it is exactly that she is suffering from. My reaction? What in the hell is she doing travelling if she’s not 100% recovered. Janet needs to get herself home and get better before continuing this tour and possible making up the dates that have been missed.

Finally, James Earl Jones is being honored by the Screen Actors Guild with a Lifetime Achievement award. SAG President Alan Rosenberg called Jones “a vocal presence without peer” and lauded his TV, film and stage work. “His long and quiet devotion to advancing literacy, the arts and humanities on a national and local scale deserves our appreciation,” Rosenberg said Thursday. Jones is probably best know as the voice of Darth Vader in Star Wars, Mustafa in Disney’s The Lion King and as the voice of CNN. The award will be given out on January 25th.
